Projects

Rawang-Ipoh Track Doubling

Project Description

MVM Rail was equity participant of the Emrail/Leighton joint venture. MVM’s main role during this project was to provide expertise to manage the construction, planning and supervision of a 12 month recovery programme including the laying and commissioning of 150 kilometres of new track, completion of all critical path demolition and track recovery stages. In response to a client identified requirement to increase the productivity of rail welding, MVM provided a mobile flashbutt welder and resources which increased the quantity of welds by 500%. As a result of the removal of DRB-Hicom from the project, MVM has now reduced its role to seconding of expatiate staff and supply and operation of a mobile flashbutt welder. Overall MVM’s involvement in this project was seen as a huge success with bringing the project back to programme.

Project Outcome

Project is Ongoing with expected completion in February 2007.

Construction

The MVM Staff have been heavily involved in the planning and implementation of the programs that have now successfully been put in place to finalise the contract after the initial main contractor was replaced.
